Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is handing Jamal Lewis a fresh chance.
Lewis missed out on the 25-man Premier League squad in February and was expected to be moved on this summer.
However, he now has a clean slate to impress the Toon boss ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Matt Targett's arrival from Aston Villa makes him undisputed first choice at left-back but Howe has previously spoken about needing "two players per position" during the World Cup-affected season.
As such, while several senior players have been relegated to train with the U23s as they're encouraged to find new teams, Lewis isn't among them, says Chronicle Live.
