Newcastle are planning to sell the naming rights of St James' Park.

Magpies chief Darren Eales revealed they are considering doing a Mike Ashley and selling the naming rights for the Cathedral on the Hill.

He also admitted they will look to Saudi Arabia for a bumper shirt sponsorship deal for next season to boost the coffers as part of the grand plan for global domination.

But, unlike under despised former owner Ashley, Eales vowed to consult fans over any seismic decisions.

Supporters are flocking back to the 52,000-capacity St James' as the good times return, with thousands missing out every week.

Given its city-centre location, expanding the famous old stadium is problematic.

Building a swanky new ground is an option yet would prove controversial among the fanbase.

And Eales reassured: “It's an amazing stadium and this is the place we want to be. There are 108 pubs within half a mile. The next is Wolves with 34, but there's only one for away fans.

“Here, it's party city. Everyone has a great time. That is part of the magic of Newcastle United. We're in a great place, we've got 50,000 and we're packed."
