Newcastle fullback Kieran Trippier insists they can be proud of their 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.

The result leaves Newcastle in third place.

Trippier said, "We knew it was going to be difficult. Maybe it's a missed opportunity because we created chance after chance. I thought we deserved the three points, but it's a good point here today.

"We've taken huge steps in a short period of time. This time last year we were fighting relegation. Everyone in the team has made a huge impact. Long may that continue.

"We've all got to be proud of how we've played this season, but we haven't achieved anything yet."

On Newcastle's defensive record, he added: "We work really hard on the training pitch. It starts from the front, we work really hard as a team. It's a joy to have Popey [Nick Pope] on our team too."
