Newcastle United have lost Jonjo Shelvey for the first-half of the season.
The Daily Mail says Shelvey will be missing for Newcastle until after Christmas.
The midfielder continues to recover from an injury received in May.
The 30-year-old has undergone hamstring surgery and is expected to miss around 12 weeks and not play until early November.
Shelvey made 26 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
