
The government has established a NIA special court in Manipur’s Thoubal district, which will be handling scheduled offences being investigated by the anti-terror agency.
The jurisdiction of the special court will extend throughout the state, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 11 of the National Investigation Agency, Act 2008 (34 of 2008), the Central Government, hereby designates the newly established ‘Special Court Manipur for NIA cases’ at 3rd Floor of Annexe Court Building, Thoubal District Court Complex, Khangabok, Thoubal, Manipur, as the Special Court for the purpose of sub-section (1) of Section 11 of the said Act, exclusively for the trial of the Scheduled Offences investigated by the National Investigation Agency in consultation with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court and the Government of Manipur,” the ministry notification said.
