Night of Frights 12 returns to Sunway Lagoon this Halloween with “The Ape-ocalypse”, a terrifying new chapter created and produced by Lynton V. Harris and Sunway Lagoon. This year, the apes have awakened, and the nightmare has evolved into an all-new horror experience filled with terrifying creatures and plenty of opportunities to scream. With a massive lineup of haunted attractions and adrenaline-pumping rides, Night of Frights 12 is bringing horror fans into a world where there is nowhere to hide. For those looking to explore the haunted houses, there are eight haunted houses and one haunted theatre, each offering its own horror-filled setting. The lineup includes Ape-ocalypse: The Kingdom Kong, where the apocalyptic ape nightmare takes centre stage, as well as Little Shop of Horrors: Manga UV 3D, bringing a colourful and creepy experience.

Fans of local horror can also encounterScarytales Immersive Theatre – Pontianak vs Pocong, putting two of the most recognisable supernatural figures in Malaysian folklore into one terrifying attraction. Meanwhile, Return to Silent Hill brings visitors into a darker world inspired by the iconic horror setting. For something a little more dramatic, The Romeos and Juliet adds a sinister twist to the familiar romantic tale, while Horrorwood: Wax Museum of Monsters invites visitors to come face-to-face with a collection of monstrous figures. There is also Yokai Road, taking inspiration from supernatural creatures and legends, alongside The Not-So-Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which transforms a familiar fantasy world into something much darker. Another attraction on the lineup is The Freezer: Fresh Meat, promising a chilling experience for those brave enough to step inside.
3 Scare Zones, 11 Thrill Rides & More
But the horror doesn’t stop at the haunted attractions. Night of Frights 12 also features three scare zones, where terrifying encounters can happen as visitors move around the event grounds. With 11 thrill rides and one show stage included in the experience, there is plenty to keep adrenaline junkies entertained between the scares.

Lynton V. Harris Addresses AI Concerns Surrounding Night of Frights 12
With Night of Frights now in its 12th year, the event has become a Halloween favourite for horror fans in Malaysia. However, this year’s edition has also sparked discussions among fans over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in some of its creative elements.
In an interview with MFT, Lynton V. Harris, the event’s founder, producer and creative director, addressed these concerns, explaining that AI is a tool to expand creativity rather than replace the people behind the production. According to him, AI helps the team develop concepts and visuals more quickly, while costume makers, makeup artists, set builders and performers continue to bring many of those ideas to life. He also shared that Night of Frights follows four creative pillars: cool, entertaining, scary and consistent, in that order. Lynton added that the event has its biggest cast and costume and makeup teams to date this year, with savings from AI-assisted early-stage work going back into its physical production.

He also acknowledged that feedback from longtime fans matters, particularly when it comes to keeping the attractions fresh and delivering the scares visitors expect. While AI has played a role in some of this year’s visuals and storytelling, he emphasised that human creativity and live performances remain central to the experience. So, if you’re planning to visit Night of Frights 12, go in with an open mind and give the team a chance to bring their ideas to life. After all, behind every attraction is a team working to create an experience that entertains and surprises you.
