Nine people were injured in the western Russian city of Belgorod after a Ukrainian drone struck a residential building on Friday, regional authorities said.
Among the injured was a 3-year-old girl, the region’s crisis response centre said on Telegram. Images released by the authorities showed a 10-storey apartment block with damage to its façade and several balconies.
Russia, which launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than four years ago and occupies parts of the country, has carried out sustained aerial attacks on its neighbour. Some 24 people were killed in attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Thursday alone, authorities said.
Ukraine, in turn, has increasingly targeted Russian territory with drone strikes as it defends against the invasion. Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, has been among the Russian cities most affected by the war.
