
KOTA BELUD: Nine people were injured in an accident involving a Toyota Avanza, a Toyota Hilux and an Isuzu D-Max along Jalan Kampung Pandasan, here, Sunday.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Chief Elge Bakuk said emergency services received the distress call at 2.37pm, prompting firefighters to the scene.
Eight victims managed to exit their vehicles, while one was trapped inside the Toyota Avanza. Firefighters used specialised cutting equipment to remove the vehicle’s door and extract the trapped victim, who received initial medical treatment before being handed over to Health Ministry personnel.
All the victims were transported to Kota Belud Hospital via the fire and rescue’s emergency medical response services vehicle and Health Ministry ambulances.
The remaining victims sustained minor injuries. The rescue team conducted safety checks on all three vehicles and the surrounding area to ensure no additional hazards remained. The rescue operation ended at 3.50pm.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
