NORTH Luzon Expressway Corp. pushed back the May 4, 2026 reopening of a road in Quezon City that would have eased traffic in the area where construction works on the NLEX-C5 project were ongoing.
The Quezon City government announced that the Katipunan Kaliwa Street/Lokaria Street from Mindanao Avenue to King Alexander Street would not reopen as scheduled to allow for the four-day curing process to ensure road integrity.
Under the traffic scheme, Class 1 vehicles will be allowed to pass through the affected stretch only under a stop-and-go setup.
Class 1 vehicles usually include cars, vans, motorcycles, and sport utility vehicles.
Motorists passing through the area near Mindanao Avenue and King Alexander Street were advised to take alternate routes and plan their trips.
Traffic enforcers will be deployed to help manage vehicular traffic, while directional signs will be placed to guide motorists.
The Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A is the first 2-kilometer section of the China-funded NLEX-C5 project serving as an east-west 24/7 truck route to decongest Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway. It will add entries and exits in the Quirino Avenue area.
Its construction started on Feb. 15, 2025, and was targeted for completion on Feb. 14, 2026.
The NLEX-C5 North Link Project is part of the Strategic Projects under the 10-point Agenda of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) Road to 100B Revenue by 2030.
