MetMalaysia reports no Level 2 heat waves nationwide, though Perlis and nine Kedah districts remain under Level 1 alert status.

KUALA LUMPUR: No area in Malaysia recorded a Level 2 heat wave as of 6 am this morning.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) confirmed the update, noting that the entire state of Perlis and nine districts in Kedah remain under a Level 1 hot weather alert.

The affected Kedah districts are Sik, Padang Terap, Pendang, Pokok Sena, Kubang Pasu, Pulau Langkawi, Kota Setar, Kuala Muda and Baling.

Several areas in Kedah, including Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu and Kuala Muda, received rain yesterday.

This rainfall brought relief to local residents and aligns with the ongoing monsoon transition phase.

The alert status is issued when daily maximum temperatures reach 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

A Level 2 heat wave is declared for temperatures exceeding 37 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Both levels require the high temperatures to be maintained for at least three consecutive days.
