TAWAU: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has found no changes in diesel price in this district, as alleged.

Tawau KPDN Chief Enforcement Officer Sam Aminuddin said this after conducting inspections at eight petrol stations in the district on Thursday.

The inspection included the petrol station where the diesel price increase was claimed, even though Sabah and Sarawak are exempt from the new fuel price.

According to him, the “increase” in price occurred at the KPF Niaga Sdn Bhd Umas-Umas Petrol Station, where the displayed price for diesel was RM3.35 per litre.

“The diesel price returned to normal around noon, and the affected customers have dealt with the station for compensation purposes.

“The affected customers, five of them, have received their overpaid amounts back in cash,” he said when contacted.

Sam added that the station expressed willingness to cooperate in compensating affected individuals.

On June 10, the government announced that the diesel price would rise to RM3.35 per litre in the peninsula while remaining RM2.15 per litre for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
