THE Department of Justice (DOJ) said that no immigration lookout order has been issued against Rep. Leandro Leviste, former lawmaker Jing Paras and their co-respondents.
Assistant Justice Secretary Polo Martinez said on Wednesday that the complaint reportedly filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) last week against the respondents has not yet been docketed for preliminary investigation.
”No immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) has been issued,” Martinez said in a message.
This comes after reports of NBI Director Melvin Matibag asking the DOJ to issue an ILBO against Leviste and other individuals allegedly involved in the supposed operation targeting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
Leviste has been accused by the NBI of being behind an alleged “honey-trap” scheme intended to frame Recto in a fabricated sex scandal, with women allegedly recruited to make false accusations and sign affidavits.
The allegations came from a detained talent manager and other witnesses, who reportedly linked Leviste and Paras to the scheme. Leviste denied the allegation.
When asked if the NBI had already sent the request to the DOJ, Martinez said he would first check with the Office of the Secretary.
