The application fee for the 10-year passport is RM350, while the standard 5-year passport remains at RM200.

The new rule comes under the2026 Fees (Passport & Visa) (Amendment) Order, enacted by the King under Section 3 of the 1951 Fees Act and signed by Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsudin Suardi.

Discounts and exemptions available

The amendment not only introduces the 10-year passport option but also provides discounts and exemptions for special groups:

  • Senior citizens aged 60 and above pay half price (RM175) for a 10-year passport. The 5-year passport fee for seniors remains RM100.
  • Persons with disabilities (18+) holding an OKU card areexempt from fees for the 10-year passport.
  • All immigration department officers and staff also enjoy a free 10-year passport.

While this move gives Malaysians more flexibility and convenience, especially for those who travel frequently, it’s worth noting that at the time of writing, the 10-year option has yet to be made available online.
