WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that those foreign companies that will move their production lines to the United States will be exempt from tariffs, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"If companies move to the United States, there are no tariffs!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Earlier on Tuesday, the White House said the United States is proceeding with earlier announced tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico.

In early February, Trump signed executive orders to impose tariffs on goods imported from Canada, Mexico and China. US import tariffs of 25 per cent are being introduced on all goods from Canada, except for energy resources, on which the rate will be 10 per cent. Last week, Trump said the US would implement its proposed tariffs on Canada on March 4 as planned. - BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
