KOTA KINABALU: The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China has dismissed social media claims that a strong warning had been issued to the Sabah Government over the water supply issue.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Monday, it said neither the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia nor the Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu had made any warning, threat, or travel advisory related to the matter.

The Consulate described the claim as disinformation and urged the public to avoid being misled by unverified reports circulating online.

It reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Malaysia and Sabah in tourism, trade, and culture under the spirit of friendship and mutual benefit.

The Consulate also called on media outlets to report responsibly and help maintain positive relations between both sides.
