KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai (pic) dismissed talk that the party intends to leave Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), describing it as a ploy to cause confusion and weaken the coalition’s unity ahead of the state election.

The Kiulu assemblyman said the recurring rumours were meant to unsettle supporters and disrupt the cooperation that has kept GRS politically stable.

He said the matter was never raised during the party’s recent Supreme Council meeting, adding that Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam had reaffirmed PBS’s commitment to strengthening GRS as a solid local coalition with a constructive relationship with the Federal Government.

Joniston said PBS believes that unity among local parties remains vital to ensuring political stability and protecting Sabah’s interests, cautioning that frequent political shifts could derail progress.

He urged members to remain focused, saying PBS is determined to help GRS grow into a dominant political force in Sabah, much like GPS in Sarawak.
