Kota Kinabalu: Noah Elhamd Esfahan Kamarudin and Alya Batrisya Shaari were crowned overall champions in the Second Leg SportExcel Malaysian Junior Golf Tour which concluded recently at the Shan Shui Golf and Country Resort Tawau.

Local lad Noah captured the Premier division boys title with a three-day total of 238 and Alya from Kuala Lumpur with 247 took the girls title.

The Premier division, which was played over three days, saw the boys category A title won by Declan Ooi Ean Yui (239). Second place went to Ethan Chee Jian Hao (242) and in third place was Brandon Wong (247), while Muhd Alghifary Zuhayr (288) took the boys title.

The top three winners in the girls B category were Bernice Hwang Ee Xuan (253), Amirah Nur Hanania (258) and Nik Amelia Mikayla Kamil (267).

In the two-day event, Muhd Arif Izwan (170) won the boys A title. In second and third places were M Alif Zafryn (183) and Marcus Yeo (190).

The boys B title went to Khayr Akhtar (163) followed by Trason Yeo (207) and Claeden Chong (222), while the top three winners in boys C went to M Yahya Ummar Ariff (187), Haziq Rayyan (210), Ahmad Eusoff (211).

In the girls category, Siew Tian Yi (181) emerged top with Sarah Paula (209) second and Louise Chow (215) in third place.

Nur Izatul Farhana Asbah was the only category B winner, while the top three places in C category went to Choi Quinn Cie (166), Woo Kay Lynn (176) and Thania Tamira (184).

In the kiddies tour category, the winners in the boys category D were Raiyan Mohd Amri (76), Daniel Tan Wei Sheng (78) and Jaayden Tharma Ratnarajah (86), while William Satis Saravanan (65), Vetrivel Gopinath (65) and George Wang (100) were the top three category E winners.

The winners in the girls category D were Sheyenne Yu Yi Yun (82), Avery Tan Wing Kay (87) and Nurqailysha Edrina Nadzhar (97), while the top two places in category E went to Casey Thea Jeiganesan (92) and Carla Keisha Jeiganesan (105).

A total of 63 players from all over the country took part in the competition organised by SportExcel Malaysia in collaboration with Alpha Sports Academy and the official partners were Ace Golf Academy and Shank Junkies.

The prizes were presented by Dato’ Zulkifli Dato’ Ismail (Asian Golf Federation secretary general), Henry Ng Teck Chuan (Shan Shui Golf and Country Resort golf director) and Adnan Atin (Youth and Sports Ministry deputy permanent secretary).

Alpha Sports Academy co-founder Ali Ariffin thanked Life Water Sdn Bhd (K2), Milo and Shan Shui Golf and Country Resort for their support.

He also said the next tournament will be the 2025 SportExcel-Alpha Sabah Malaysian Junior Golf Championship to be held at Sabah Golf and Country Club on August 19-21.
