SEREMBAN -  All eight nomination centres (PPCs) for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election opened simultaneously at 9 am today.

The candidate nomination process will run for one hour until 10 am, after which the returning officers will announce the list of eligible candidates contesting the election.

The campaign period has been set at 14 days, beginning immediately after the official announcement of the candidates and ending at 11.59 pm on July 31.

Observations indicate that weather conditions are favourable across all seven districts of the state.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said 2,393 police personnel have been deployed across all eight nomination centres today to maintain peace, order and security throughout the nomination process.

The Negeri Sembilan state election is being held following the official dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly on June 5, after receiving the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

In the 15th Negeri Sembilan state election held in 2023, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 17 of the 36 state seats, followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) with 14 seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN) with five seats.

The Election Commission (EC) has set 28 July as the date for early voting, while polling day will take place on Aug 1.

Based on the EC’s electoral roll updated as of June 4, 2026, Negeri Sembilan has a total of 889,490 registered voters eligible to vote in this state election, comprising 867,151 ordinary voters, 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,455 police personnel as early voters. - BERNAMA
