SHAH ALAM – Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said Umno has every right to decide whom it wishes to invite to its own general assembly and that it is none of Pakatan Harapan's (PH) business.
"It is none of our business. At the same time, in the context of a unity government, political gestures will naturally attract attention and interpretation," he said.
Kamil said this in response to Umno's decision to leave PH leaders off the invitation list for its upcoming general assembly.
He said internal party gatherings remain strictly the domain of individual political entities, emphasising that coalition partners should maintain focus on governance responsibilities rather than administrative invitation protocols.
"Our responsibility now is to prove that this government can improve people's lives, strengthen institutions and pursue meaningful reforms," he said.
He stressed that the administration's primary focus must stay anchored on long-term national development, institutional stability and socioeconomic progress.
He said public interest is best served when coalition partners channel their energy into policy implementation and tangible delivery for the people rather than engaging in political commentary surrounding party conventions.
"Just as we respect Umno’s right to manage its political relationships, we expect the same mutual respect for PH as partners in this government," he said.
He also highlighted the importance of upholding professional boundaries and mutual goodwill within the ruling coalition and noted that operational stability depends on acknowledging each party's internal autonomy while working collectively toward shared governance objectives.
He said the strength of the unity government would not be determined by who is invited to sit in the guest gallery of a party assembly, but by whether its members continued to honour their commitments to one another, preserve mutual trust and most importantly, deliver for the people.

He said this following a recent statement made by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who confirmed that PH component parties were omitted from the guest list for the 2026 assembly.
Zahid explained that Umno had instead extended invitations to Pas leadership as a reciprocal gesture following Pas' invitation to Umno for its recent muktamar.
He reiterated that the decision was rooted in internal party dynamics and efforts surrounding Malay unity rather than setting the political direction for the unity government.
