Noorazli’s lewd joke investigation papers head to AGC

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 - Police will submit investigation papers on Selangor delegate Datuk Noorazli Said’s speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) today for further instructions and advice.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M Kumar said the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He said police had received 86 reports and recorded statements from 93 witnesses, including members of the public, organisers, UMNO delegates and Noorazli.

“The public are advised not to speculate in ways that could disrupt the investigation or misuse network facilities or services to spread information that has not been verified,” he said in a statement today.

Kumar said cooperation from all parties was needed to keep the digital space safe while fostering a mature and respectful communication culture for social well-being and national stability.

Noorazli’s speech sparked controversy after he made a joke involving a Catholic priest and a nun during the UMNO General Assembly.
