Kota Kinabalu: Noraidah Lamat told the Coroner’s Court on Thursday that she desperately hoped her daughter, Zara Qairina Mahathir, would regain consciousness and tell her what had happened to her.
Noraidah, the 82nd deponent, said she spent the night alone with Zara at the hospital after her daughter was admitted to the neuro ward, overwhelmed by questions after seeing blood on her head and legs.
“I really hoped Zara would regain consciousness, open her eyes and tell me what actually happened to her,” she said while testifying before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
Noraidah said a group of about three doctors conducted rounds at about 7am the following morning, accompanied by other medical officers, and one of the doctors advised her to lodge a police report over what had happened to her daughter.
She said the doctor’s words strengthened her resolve to remain strong and continue seeking answers, adding that the doctor was a relatively young man who appeared to be Chinese based on his features.
