MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cooler temperatures in parts of Luzon, while the easterlies will continue to cause rain in several areas of the country, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
In its 5 p.m. weather forecast, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Weather Specialist Benison Estareja said amihan was bringing cloudy skies and light rain over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, with isolated light rain possible in Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Ilocos Region.
Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring a higher chance of rain in Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Quezon, and Marinduque.
"Bring an umbrella if you are leaving the house overnight," Estareja said in Filipino.
Typhoon In-fa, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), is moving northward and away from the country toward the North Pacific Ocean. No new tropical cyclone is expected to enter PAR for the rest of the week, Pagasa said.
Estareja said cooler temperatures are expected during the early morning, with Metro Manila recording a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius, Tagaytay 20 degrees, and Baguio City 15 degrees on Thursday.
For the weekend, the northeast monsoon is expected to strengthen slightly and extend toward Central Luzon, while the easterlies will continue to bring rain to parts of the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Pagasa also warned of possible flash floods and landslides in Eastern Visayas, including Tacloban City, due to expected rain.
