Norway's Crown Prince Haakon, 52, is cutting short a trip to Japan next week due to the health of his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

The royal household announced on Friday that the official programme in Tokyo will now end on Wednesday rather than Thursday as originally planned.

Mette-Marit, 52, suffers from an incurable lung disease. Her condition has deteriorated in recent months and she now more frequently relies on an oxygen device in daily life.

Just days ago, Haakon said he was worried about his wife.
