Norwegian Queen Sonja, who is 88, has been discharged from hospital following heart problems.
"She is on her way home," said her husband, King Harald V, while attending an engagement in western Norway. The queen had been admitted to hospital on Wednesday for examination and observation following cardiac arrhythmia.
The queen had been forced to cancel a planned trip to several municipalities in western Norway with her husband.
"She is sad that she cannot be there," said the monarch. But he also had some good news. "As I understand it, she is already feeling much better."
Sonja was admitted to hospital in early 2025 for heart problems following a skiing trip. She was subsequently fitted with a pacemaker. Her husband Harald also struggles with his health and has already undergone heart surgery.
The Norwegian royals are also deeply concerned about Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who suffers from a serious lung condition.
