Kota Kinabalu: Efforts to spearhead Sabah’s progress and development should not come at the expense of the environment.
This was the view expounded by State Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe on recent comments by environmental expert, Dr Raymond Alfred on sand mining operations in Sikuati, Kudat.
“Sand mining activities in the area, spanning hundreds of hectares are an important contributor to the state economy,” he said, noting the operation is in full compliance with three Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
