PM Urges Community Leaders to Champion Government Policies and Achievements

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on community leaders to take an active role in communicating the government’s policies and achievements to the public. He emphasized the need to counter negative perceptions, especially those spread by opposition groups, by highlighting the successes of the MADANI Government.

Speaking at a breaking-of-fast event with community leaders in Selangor, Anwar cautioned against wasting time on baseless accusations. Instead, he urged leaders to focus on promoting the government’s contributions, such as the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) financial aid initiative, salary hikes for civil servants, and various welfare programs that have significantly benefited the people.

“If anyone says we have done nothing, that is simply not true. Almost everyone has benefited from STR, with RM13 billion allocated for this initiative in 2025,” he stated. He also pointed out that investment growth, economic improvements, and long-overdue salary adjustments for civil servants are among the government’s notable achievements.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, and other key state officials.

Government Open to Feedback and Improvement

Anwar reaffirmed that the government remains open to feedback and constructive criticism, expressing a willingness to address any shortcomings.

He also encouraged community leaders and public figures to contribute personally to charitable causes, especially during Ramadan, rather than relying solely on government funds.

“Ramadan is about giving. Every leader should make an effort to donate from their own earnings rather than using government allocations,” Anwar stated. He added that this principle applies to him as well, emphasizing that he refrains from using the Prime Minister’s Department’s funds for personal donations.

Emphasizing Integrity and Ethical Leadership

In his speech, Anwar reflected on the deeper meaning of Ramadan, stressing that it should inspire self-discipline and ethical leadership. He expressed concern over corruption, misappropriation, and the accumulation of illicit wealth, questioning the sincerity of those who continue to hoard large sums of money.

“Where is the spirit of Ramadan in our actions? This holy month teaches us about integrity, ethics, and values that should be part of our daily lives,” he remarked.

His message serves as a reminder that leadership is not just about governance but also about moral responsibility, urging public figures to lead by example.
