
- Seven people, including two police officers, have died following a car crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough after a vehicle travelled the wrong way down the road.
- The victims were police officers PC Tom Clough and Matthew Blades, along with five young men aged between 17 and 23 travelling in a Volkswagen Passat.
- Police had briefly followed the suspicious vehicle but aborted the pursuit 10 seconds before the collision with a Cleveland Police armed response car took place.
- One of the deceased young men, 23-year-old Jakub Matusiak, had previously posted videos on social media demonstrating reckless driving and joyriding.
- A video, which has now been deleted, appears to show him behind the wheel of a car barreling through a neighbourhood and across an estate.
