TI-M president Dr Muhammad Mohan said Anwar should not have done so, as he had previously criticised cronyism and nepotism.

"From our point of view, it gives out misleading signals, and I'm afraid if left uncorrected, the factor will be included in the Corruption Perceptions Index.

"This is because CPI result is depended on perception and nowadays nepotism is considered as corrupt," he said while presenting the Malaysia's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2022 results on Tuesday.

Previously, Nurul Izzah revealed she was appointed as Senior Economic and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, effective Jan 3.

Muhammad hoped that Anwar would reconsider Nurul Izzah's appointment.

"Hopefully the Prime Minister will intervene and make adjustments so we don't lose Nurul Izzah's talent," he explained.
