MELAKA - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar's application for temporary leave from her position as she provided a valid reason.
Anwar said Nurul Izzah has a special programme outside the party for a specific period but remains active in PKR.
"She has a special programme outside briefly, so I can accept it. But she is still active in the party," he told reporters briefly after Friday prayers at Masjid Ar-Rasyidin here on Friday.
On Thursday, the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) decided to grant temporary leave to Nurul Izzah after she applied to step down from the post.
PKR information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the decision was made during an MPP meeting after discussing Nurul Izzah's application.
MPP also decided that PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will temporarily perform the duties of the deputy president.
