Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Nurul Amirah Amirul surrendered her lead in the final game to finish third overall in the girls Under-21 event at the National Tenpin Bowling Championship held at the Sunway Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid in Selangor on Wednesday.

She scored a total of 1,427 after eight rounds to finish behind champion Nur Syarafah Auni from Negeri Sembilan and second placed Nurul Najah Balqis of Kuala Lumpur.

“I am grateful for getting third place even though I was ahead from the start but some minor mistakes in the final game resulted in me falling behind,” she said.

She thanked Sabah Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) and Sabah Sports Council for giving her the opportunity to compete and also to her parents and friends for their support.

Meanwhile, STBA president Rozzainnysham Talip said Nurul had earlier helped the State to retain the girls’ team title at the 34th Interstate Championships and hopes she will continue to focus on her training.
