A mum asked for weight-loss tips online after her husband told her to slim down, a coach advised her to ‘change husband’ instead.
A Threads screenshot shared by @Confessionlocal on X is going viral after a breastfeeding mum, @babyy.diary.co, asked for tips to lose weight beyond fasting, revealing that her husband told her to do so because he “doesn’t like chubby women.”
Nutrition coach @jared.ds offered a blunt response: “Honest opinion – change your husband.
He added that for a breastfeeding mum, the body uses roughly 500 extra calories a day to produce milk.
“If you try to lose weight now, the first thing that will happen is your milk supply will drop. Start weight loss after you finish breastfeeding.
“Many of my friends gained weight while breastfeeding. All of them are still beautiful; the only one who isn’t is your husband (sorry).
“Your body is transforming for your baby — this is God’s work. There’s nothing wrong with it. In fact, it’s a beautiful thing,” he wrote.
Users commenting under @Confessionlocal had plenty to say.
@xyzfiquezyx noted, “Chubby and curvy while breastfeeding is different. My wife didn’t get chubby after giving birth… she’s fine, and the baby feeds well. The change is there, just not chubby. What even counts as chubby?”
Others added humour while criticising the husband.
@xmmxxr wrote, “A breastfeeding mum can’t just lose weight easily because the husband says so. Easier option, sis change the husband. Let him be skinny alone.” @rinnetlshere joined in, “Tips besides fasting: change the husband.” Even @ZohaIrwan joked, “I can take his place… hehe.”
Though some users feel he went too far.
“That’s crazy. How can people ask a breastfeeding mum to lose weight?” @NdxxHan said, while @Jorsaofeeeen added, “Your husband is terrible. No common sense, no sympathy. He values aesthetics over your nutrition. For you and your baby?”
As @eden3aaa put it, “Wife just went through childbirth, breastfeeding is painful for the whole body. Can’t believe some men are so clueless.”
