- The podcast is a collaboration between Audible and Higher Ground, the media company founded by Obama and his wife Michelle.
- Each episode will feature Obama discussing one of six books that shaped his worldview alongside an unannounced special guest.
- The selected books include literary works by James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, Cormac McCarthy, Marilynne Robinson, Robert Penn Warren, and John le Carré.
- Marilynne Robinson’s 2004 novel Gilead is the only book on the list published in the 21st century, with the other five dating from the 20th century.
