Selangor declares Oct 25 a special public holiday for Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s 25th anniversary, with replacement rules for eligible workers.
PETALING JAYA: The Selangor government has declared Oct 25 (Sunday) as a special public holiday in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s reign.
In a statement today, the state government said the declaration was made under subsection 9(1) of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369), which allows the government to declare any day as a public holiday in the state.
“The date of Oct 25, 2026 (Sunday) is declared as a special public holiday in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the reign of Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah,” it said.
The state government said the special holiday is an optional public holiday and applies to private-sector employers in Selangor who have chosen the Selangor state special holiday as a paid public holiday.
It said employers whose weekly rest day falls on Sunday must provide a replacement public holiday on Oct 26 (Monday), in accordance with Section 60D(1) of the Employment Act 1955.
“Alternatively, employers may, with the agreement of their employees, substitute the paid public holiday with another day as provided under Section 60D(1A) of the Employment Act 1955,” it said.
