Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has disclosed that he was approached with suggestions to join other political parties in the aftermath of internal developments within Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). These overtures, reportedly coming from members of the public during grassroots engagements, encouraged him to consider aligning with parties like PAS, with some suggesting he would find more appreciation there.
Rafizi, however, made it clear that such proposals held no appeal for him. During a recent appearance in Kelantan under the "Jelajah Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Kuasa" (HIRUK) programme, he reaffirmed his commitment to PKR, emphasizing that his political journey has always been anchored in loyalty, not opportunism or the pursuit of titles.
Reflecting on his past connections with the electorate, Rafizi recalled a time when his speeches and activism resonated with PAS supporters, particularly during the era of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. His active role in uncovering scandals and pushing for reform once gained him traction among voters across political divides. It is likely, he said, that this history explains why some individuals are now reaching out with well-meaning, if misplaced, offers of political shelter.
Despite the political noise, Rafizi downplayed the notion that there was any serious attempt by rival parties to interfere in PKR’s internal affairs. He stated that while he respects all political parties, he does not believe they are meddling in the party’s ongoing matters. He did, however, take a subtle jab at one notable figure, suggesting that one leader had crossed the line with a personal gesture directed at a fellow party member.
Throughout his remarks, Rafizi maintained a firm tone regarding his principles, insisting that his presence in PKR is not dictated by convenience but shaped by a long-standing commitment to reform. He stressed that his involvement in the party transcends internal chaos, and that such turbulence does not shake his belief in its ideals.
In light of the current political climate, Rafizi’s statements appear to serve both as a message to his supporters and a reminder to political observers that loyalty, for him, is not negotiable—even when tested by internal strife or enticing offers from across the aisle.
