24 August, 12AM – Najib pens a heartfelt letter to his family, saying this whole ordeal is a test, and that he did his best to sacrifice for the country.
23 August, 6:47PM – Najib arrived at Kajang Prison to begin serving his jail sentence. The vehicle carrying Najib was tightly guarded and accompanied by several police patrol cars.

23 August, 6PM – Najib is escorted to Kajang prison. Previously, rumours of him going to Sungai Buloh jail began circulating, but it has been confirmed that the ex-PM will begin serving his 12-year sentence at the Kajang prison.

23 August, 4.30PM – Najib’s appeal fails. Federal Court upholds SRC conviction. Najib is ordered to serve his 12-year jail sentence immediately. He will also have to pay the RM210 million fine. The five-member bench, led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun agree that the findings of the high court are correct and that the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt.
It is not clear if he would be sent to prison immediately, but he would have to begin serving jail time today. As the court adjourns, Najib is surrounded by his family members including wife Rosmah Mansor, daughter Nooryana, and son Ashman.
23 August, 3.36PM – Apex court rejects Najib’s bid to recuse top judge from hearing final SRC appeal.
23 August, 11.21AM – Najib’s previous lawyer Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah is expected to return as a co-counsel. Shafee will be assisting Hisyam on the case. Shafee requested for the court to adjourn so he could “gather his thoughts,” but was denied.
23 August, 9.39AM – Final leg of SRC Appeal begins today. Hundreds of Najib supporters are gathered outside the Palace of Justice. Lawyer Hisyam Teh is seeking to recuse chief justice Tun Tengku Maimun from hearing the former prime minister’s final appeal.
21 August – At the Masjid Jamek mosque, Najib solemnly swears that he did not siphon SRC funds under ‘sumpah laknat’ or religious oath. The Apex court is predicted to rule even without Najib’s final submissions.
19 August, 6.56PM – Prosecution wraps up submissions. Hisyam Teh is given until Monday, 23 August to file written or oral submission on behalf of Najib’s counsel.
19 August, 3.30PM – Prosecution says RM42 mil SRC funds entered Najib’s personal accounts on instruction by ex-PM to Jho Low. Previously, Najib claimed that the financier was manipulating his personal accounts, but prosecutor Datuk V Sithambaram said the claim does not hold water.
19 August, 10AM – Najib discharges lawyers from Zaid Ibrahim’s firm.
18 August, 9PM – Prosecution says Najib was undoubtedly, the controlling mind behind SRC International Sdn Bhd.
18 August, 4PM – Apex court rejects lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik’s application to discharge himself. Najib is ‘extremely disappointed’ by the court’s rejection. Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun reprimands Teh for being unprepared.
16 August, 4.30PM – Najib’s bid to postpone the appeal to a later date was also rejected. Case to proceed.
16 August, 2PM – Federal Court rejects Najib’s bid to present extra evidence in SRC International conviction appeal due to lack of merit. Najib says it may shed light on trial judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan’s alleged conflict of interest.
15 August – Appeal begins today. Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat leads the five-member quorum in former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s application to adduce further evidence in his SRC International Sdn Bhd appeal at the Federal Court here.
26 July – Najib drops now ex-lead defence lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and the latter’s law firm from representing him in his final appeal against his guilty verdict over the misappropriation of SRC International Sdn Bhd’s RM42 million. He then appoints Zaid Ibrahim’s firm as his new lawyers.
