Jade Jones delivered a brutal knockout on her boxing debut at Misfits Duel 2, but the highlight quickly sparked debate about the matchup itself.

The Welsh athlete stepped into the ring for the first time as a boxer after building an elite career in another combat sport.

Jones is a two-time Olympic gold medallist in Taekwondo, bringing years of striking experience into the fight.

Her opponent, Egypt Criss, also debuted in the ring but entered the contest with a very different background, as an actress and singer with no martial arts experience.

Jones’ combat sports pedigree quickly became evident once the fight began.

During the second round, the Olympic champion produced a decisive knockout that immediately became one of the most widely shared moments from the event.

Clips of the finish spread rapidly across social media, with many viewers pointing to Jones’ striking ability and composure despite it being her first boxing appearance.

However, her powerful left hooks were overshadowed by some criticism pointed at Misfits Boxing matchmaking.

Fans question Misfits matchmaking after Jones vs Criss knockout

While the knockout was impressive, many fans on X questioned why the fight had been made in the first place.

One viewer wrote: “I only know Egypt (girl who got knocked out) from being Treach and Pepa’s daughter on the TV show ‘Growing Up Hip Hop’. It’s no way she should have been in the ring with a woman with a martial arts (Taekwondo) background. I’m speaking as someone who took Taekwondo as a kid.”

“How can you be celebrating this? The match should never have been made, you put a young woman’s future at risk,” added a second X user.

A third fan stated: “Am I supposed to be impressed? This match is like me fighting Brock Lesnar. Absolute disgrace.”

“Now that I know the truth, this is nasty work. A child star with no fighting experience vs a 2 time Olympic athlete? And it’s being celebrated. This is sick. And a bad representation of combat sports,” another one published.
