Ombudsman moves 'closer' to filing plunder raps vs Romualdez

MANILA, Philippines — Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Friday that his office moved "closer" to filing of plunder charges against former speaker Martin Romualdez but that they have yet to "cross the T's and dot the I's."

In a press briefing, Remulla said "the cases are about to be ready for preliminary investigation" to ensure that the rights of the accused were also protected.

Remulla alleged that Romualdez was "part of a conspiracy" in the flood control scam.
