One dead, two injured in ELITE Highway lorry collision

A MAN was killed while two others sustained minor injuries when the lorries they were travelling in were involved in a collision at Kilometer 9.9 of the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) on Wednesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5.48am.

He said the deceased was a local man in his 40s, while the two injured men, also locals, were in their 30s.

According to him, the operation commander reported that the accident involved two Hicom one-tonne lorries.

“The first lorry was carrying corn, while the second was transporting eggs. There was a man, estimated to be in his 40s, trapped in the driver’s seat of the first lorry,” he said.

“The victim was successfully extricated by firefighters at 6.15am and was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM),” he added in a statement on Wednesday.

As for the second lorry, Ahmad Mukhlis said the two men sustained minor injuries and managed to escape from the vehicle before the fire and rescue team arrived. - May 7, 2025
