Ongkili made chairman of newly incepted Energy Commission of Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili was appointed as the chairman of the newly incepted Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) today while Kapayan representative Jannie Lasimbang was made chairperson of the Rural Development Corporation (KPD)

Thanking Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor after receiving his appointment letter at the latter's office at Menara Kinabalu, here, Ongkili said it is an honour for his party, PBS.

"I will seek to serve ECoS and the energy industry of Sabah to the best of my ability," said Ongkili who has vast experience as a four-term federal minister, including as the Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister.

The PBS president, who is also a six-term MP from 1995 to 2022, stressed that Sabah has enormous strengths and potential in energy resources especially in green renewables such as solar, hydro, wind and biomass.

"We will ensure that any issues related to ECoS will be executed for the good of Sabah and Sabahans," he said.
