SHAH ALAM – Only five out of six Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties attended a meeting on the Negeri Sembilan state election on Thursday.
PN information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the meeting was held to finalise the seat allocation and decide on the logo to be used for the upcoming election.
“The meeting involving five PN component parties this morning will finalise the contested seats and the logo to be used,” he said briefly in a Facebook post on Thursday.
However, Annuar did not specify which parties were involved in the meeting, nor did he reveal the number of seats allocated or the logo that was decided.
Currently, PN comprises several parties, including Pas, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Gerakan, Parti Rakyat India Malaysia (MIPP), Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) and Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan).
On Wednesday, it was reported that Bersatu had announced its decision to field candidates using its own party symbol in the Negeri Sembilan state election after PN failed to reach a final agreement on seat distribution.
Its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the decision was made after the PN Seat Negotiation Committee meeting for the Negeri Sembilan election was postponed indefinitely, while Bersatu was also not involved in any discussions on seat allocation.
He said all Bersatu candidates contesting in the Negeri Sembilan state election would use the party’s symbol.
