Bharatiya Janata Party workers accorded a warm welcome to the party’s newly appointed Punjab president, Keval Singh Dhillon, at the Bade Hanuman Mandir in Ramlila Ground on Friday. The reception was organised under the leadership of BJP district president Nipun Sharma. Punjab BJP general secretary Parminder Singh Brar and state secretary Meenu Sethi were also present.

Welcoming the state president, Nipun Sharma said that Dhillon, a former Punjab minister, possesses vast experience in both governance and organisational affairs. He expressed confidence that under Dhillon’s leadership, the BJP would further strengthen its organisational structure across the state. He met Former Union MoS Vijay Sampla, former MP Avinash Rai Khanna and former Punjab minister Tikshan Sood separately at their residences. He said that family meetings were being held and that everyone would sit together on June 3 to work collectively towards forming a BJP government in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference, Keval Singh Dhillon said his sole objective was to ensure the BJP’s victory in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections and form a BJP-led government in the state. He said this goal would be achieved through the collective efforts of senior leaders and dedicated party workers.

Responding to a question regarding Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu and his recent controversial remarks, Dhillon described Bittu as an efficient and energetic leader who has performed commendably as a Union Minister. He remarked that certain statements may sometimes be made in anger, but maintained that Bittu remains a capable administrator.

Claiming significant electoral gains, Dhillon said the BJP had recorded a 220 per cent improvement in its performance in the recent municipal elections compared to the previous civic polls. Rejecting suggestions of factionalism within the party, he asserted that the BJP was united and working collectively under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Criticising the Punjab Government’s announcement regarding the abolition of outsourcing, Dhillon alleged that the AAP government was “a government of announcements" and claimed that many of its promises had failed to materialise on the ground.
