As Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), 2 Ministries that oversee the maintenance and upgrading of public toilets in Lake Garden, KL (officially known as the Perdana Botanical Gardens), the general public who frequent Lake Gardens are appalled and disappointed with the continue state of the public toilets in the place.

Even though the Lake Gardens does not have an official exact annual visitor count, comparing historic parks like the Taiping Lake Gardens in Perak which registered over 1 million visitors annually, Lake Gardens should also have no less than 1 million visitors visiting it annually.

Inside Lake Gardens, there are 4 public toilets for use by visitors to the park.

2 months ago or more, 3 of the 4 public toilets have been closed to the public for upgrading works.

While the park remains fully open with extended hours, visitors are inconvenienced for the past 2 months as 3 of the 4 restrooms facilities were locked for the reason that it is undergoing structural repairs.

Why does it take so long for these toilets to be repaired or improved on?

Bureaucratic red tape?

Who the responsibilities rests with?

DBKL or the contractors?

Or the delay was due to budget constraints or administrative hiccups from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) where it requires strict tender processes, auditing, and phased disbursements before ground work can scale up?

Lake Gardens featured prominently as one of the places to go for tourists, local and foreign.

And on weekends, the place is packed with locals who go there for their exercises or family picnics.

In 2024, it was revealed that only 1 in 4 Malaysians are physically inactive.

Exercise is crucial for the health and well-being of people of all ages.

It is generally accepted and as advised by health professionals, one can improve one’s health by incorporating at least 30 minutes of exercise into their daily routine.

Both of you are well aware that the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat unites ministries and communities to build health literacy, encourage outdoor play, and promote active hobbies.

The Madani government also rolled out programs like MyCHAMPION to train local volunteers from the Ministry of Health to spread awareness about healthy living.

Frequent visitors to Lake Garden in Kuala Lumpur are asking, how long do they need to wait before the upgrading or repair works for all the washrooms in would be available for use by the public?
