According to the National Health Service (NHS) of the UK, the most common causes of insomnia or lack of sleep include stress, anxiety or depression/noise/a room that's too hot or cold/uncomfortable beds/alcohol, caffeine or nicotine/recreational drugs like cocaine or ecstasy/jet lag/shift work.

Muhyiddin, Tun Daim, and Tun M have everything including comfortable beds at their disposal. Therefore, if we put aside all other causes, sleep should come easily enough for them at night. But could Tun Daim be having sleepless night now although he has all the creature comfort just because Anwar Ibrahim is the Prime Minister?

We raise this question because Anwar said so not too long ago and has since repeated it. We have not confirmed with Tun Daim whether he suffers from insomnia and if he did, is it brought about by anxiety from Anwar's threats.

We'll never know because Daim remains diam, a Malay word meaning silent. Anyway, his nightly sleep habit is his business.

That brings to mind a book about Daim that might intetest you; Daim Yang Diam or in English the Quiet Daim.

On the other hand, Muhyiddin unlike Daim, wears his heart on his sleeves.

He confessed that he has been having sleepless nights after he was charged with corruption, money laundering and abuse of power.

Going by the NHS explanation quoted above, anxiety could be the cause of his insomnia. But then again, that speculation is subject to proper diagnosis by a medical practitioner. We are not sure whether he has been examined by a professional medical practioner. Even if he was, we have no access to his medical records but can only assume from what he said to the press that the it is indeed a symptom of insomnia.

However, Najib who is already in jail for a few months now has probably adjusted to the uncomfortable government issued mattress and is no longer anxious about some of his other cases now that he is jailed 12 years for corruption. Apparently, reports say he has settled in and is pursuing a higher degree online to while away his time in prison. Let's hope he'll graduate from Kajang wiser than when he first entered the campus.

As for Tun Mahathir, we are sure being a medical doctor himself, he knows full well that at 98 he would need to sleep at least 6 to 7 hours a night to stay healthy. He might not be happy with the political situation in the country but we doubt he would lose sleep over trivial matters and would readily opt for something like Melatonin to help him get fully rested at night.

Meanwhile, there is a caricature circulating on Facebook that satires the above state of sleeplessness for Muhyiddin, Najib and Tun Mahathir.

Muhyiddin is quoted as saying "I cannot sleep well anymore" while Najib on the other hand remarked  that "I can sleep very well. Nobody advises me something anymore". The last phrase probably refers to a famous taped telephone conversation that went viral supposedly between Najib and his wife where she purportedly said, "Darling, let me advise you something."

Lastly, the caricature also made a remark about Tun Mahathir and that we'll leave to you to make your own conclusions.

Anyway, to quote Mahatma Gandhi, Indian Lawyer, Anti-Colonial Nationalist, and Political Enthusiast who said, “Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I’m reborn.” But Gandhi did not wake up from his last sleep.

Our advice is sleep well every night and enjoy being reborn the Najib, Tun Daim or Tun Mahathir.
