PMX's government will crack down on those abusing their power to enrich themselves, be they Tuns or Tan Sris, Anwar said when addressing business players and investors claiming that his administration would not be influenced by a person’s power or position.
“We will uphold the highest ethical standards and there will be no room for abuse of power under this administration,” he said at Invest Malaysia 2023 Series 1: Strengthening Resilience and Sustaining Growth. “Whether you are a Tun or Tan Sri, whether you are in this government or the opposition, we will act without fear or favour.”
That was almost a month ago, in fact on March 8. Since then MACC has charged Tan Sri Muhyiddin and summoned Tun Daim Zainuddin for investigation.
At the same time he is embroiled with Tun Mahathir over allegations that the latter was involved in corruption and abuse of power to enrich himself and his family members while he was in power for 22 years.
Tun Mahathir has given him notice to withdraw the allegations or face legal action for slander.
Observers are watching keenly as to whom PMX will likely target next. So far, those investigated are politicians who were on the cabinet with him prior to his dismissal from the government. Namely Tun Mahathir, Tun Daim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin.
On the other hand, there are other Tun, Tan Sri and Datuk or Dato' Sri in other parts of Malaysia who started off as ordinary politicians and are now extremely wealthy whom some womder when they too would be investigated.
May be we should not be wondering at all about such individuals because there's nothing to investigate although Sarawak Report has been agitating for actions to be taken against a few Tun, Tan Sri and Dato' in East Malaysia.
Meanwhile, back on the Peninsula there's Dato' Sri Zahid Hamidi, Anwar's deputy who is already facing criminal charges in court and will likely attend his trials again soon. So, that is one Dato' that is already out of PM's list from within the PH government and Anwar's own cabinet.
Are there any other Tun or Tan Sri then that Anwar is targeting besides Tun Mahathir, Tun Daim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin, in his corruption busting efforts?
Let's hope he goes after those individuals who are suspected of committing economic crimes against the state.
