Dr Mahathir has repeatedly lamented that he has failed to unite the Malays after multiple endeavours aimed at achieving that goal.
According to the Department of Statistics, Malays make up approximately 58.1% of the country's population.
This translates to over 17.6 million individuals.
Even though he was instrumental with the setting up of Bersatu, Pejuang and then GTA, Dr Mahathir instead blamed the proliferation of Malay-centric political parties for splitting the community's votes and setting them against one another.
He claimed that he set up new political parties was because each of them deviated from its original struggle, alleging each had shifted towards pursuing wealth rather than championing the interests of the nation, religion and race thus leaving him with no choice but to leave.
He stated those decisions were driven by ideological conflicts and a desire to provide a new platform for grassroots members who felt disillusioned, rather than out of simple personal rejection.
The UMNO Supreme Council has 56 members, the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council has 25 members, the Central Executive Committee in Pejuang and the top leadership in GTA has no known numbers.
Effectively, the top leadership and decision making bodies in all these political parties should not exceed 100 individuals collectively.
Instead of working within and bring change to the leadership in these parties, numbering no more than 100 individuals collectively, for them to align with his call for the Malays to unite, he leaves and forms a new party one after another to champion his call.
When he can’t convince the Malay leadership, numbering no more than 100 individuals collectively, in all the Malay political parties to unite, he wants to convince 17.6 million Malay to unite knowing that these 17.6 million Malays often prioritize the fate of their chosen political leaders over race, religion, and the broader country?
Dr Mahathir repeatedly reminded the Malays that they are not creatures of circumstances and they are and should continue to be the master of their own destiny.
If he truly loves Malaysia as much as he loves the Malays, he should work towards uniting Malaysians.
For many Malaysians, for Malays to be united is good.
For many Malaysians, Malaysians to be united is better.
For good, loyal and honest Malaysians to be united to fight corruption is heaven sent.
