We hardly get decent concerts in this country. The local ones are mediocre at best. The young prefer international performances because they offer value for money.

So, every time they get a chance, they'll save every penny just to attend one.

Some who can afford the ticket and airfare would travel as far as Jakarta or Bangkok when an international show comes to town.

Coldplay has never performed in Malaysia. Many have joined the queue for tickets when they heard the British band is coming in November.

However, reports say some enterprising people who are out to scalp the unsuspecting have bought most of the tickets to the show in bulk when it opened for sale, leaving ordinary fans fuming mad.

For the poor, simple-minded fan, disappointment is more than just sorrow when they reach the end of the queue only to be told that the tickers have been sold even on day one.

To add insult to injury, the ulamaks of PAS have been urging people not to go because towards the end of the year, disasters do occur, they claimed, trying to put fear into them.

We talked to some young and enthusiastic fans who desperately want to go and are offended by the discouraging words from PAS cleric who thinks life should not include live musical entertainment. That's probably why PAS closed the only cinema in Kelantan depriving Kelantanse of ever enjoying a trip to the movies.

Anyway, to the young fans, I would urge you to ignore the clerics who may not wish the best for their fellow men. Let Allah decide.

But for the opportunists who want to make a quick buck,  it's disgusting. Shame on you to scalp your fellow countrymen.

For the fans may be we should get a movement going to ask Coldplay to perform another night. However, tickets are to be sold to individuals who are allowed to buy only two tickets each. Let's cut out the middlemen.

But most of all, to the fans, if you did get a chance, go and enjoy the evening.

For the PAS ulamaks (the clerics pay attention to what KJ says, "If you don't like Coldplay, don't go!)

He's right set aside the petty issues. Go focus on other more meaningful issues, politically or otherwise.

Concerts are just one-night events.

They come and go without making any impact on life of people in general.

Concerts like Coldplay are for the young. The elderly who listen to preachers more often than not do not bother to attend.

So, let the young people go.

Avoid dampening their spirit and enthusiasm by scaring them off with threats of bad omen.
