Recently, the Deputy President of MIC said the party fully supports the motion to be brought in the UMNO General Assembly on a full pardon for PM6.

A political party that supported the notion of granting a full pardon for acts of corruption?

This position is fundamentally at odds with core legal and ethical principles and the rule of law.

The public generally expects political parties to uphold justice and security, not undermine them.

The stand taken by MIC would likely erode public trust for the party.

The general public is already tired of hearing and reading with how the political elites and politicians caught stealing public funds somehow ends up walking free, celebrated, and recycled by political parties from both sides.

It is no longer an impression or perception.

The public has grown weary with the general knowledge that in this country, corruption by the elites and politicians are not punished.

Those who loot are untouchable, those prosecuted are never convicted, and the rare ones convicted are eventually pardoned by the very people meant to fight corruption.

Let’s not kid ourselves.

The public is thoroughly aware no matter who is in power, be it UMNO/BN, PKR, PAS, DAP, Amanah, none of them will fix anything.

The most they will do is only upgrade the corruption software and call it Reforms or Renewed Hope.

They won’t fight the system because all of them are the system.

The looters will be showing off their overseas holidays while the masses chew poverty like breakfast at the warungs.

And then a new arrival and wannabe politician showing up somewhere in the future saying, `hold your government accountable’.

Probably the public by then is intelligent enough to ask this new arrival and wannabe politician this question - `accountable to what a system built to protect thieves’?

With this recent call, MIC had just boarded the train to political irrelevance.
