Recently, PMX said there was no apparent reason for Anthony Loke to step down and questioned those celebrating his decision to resign, saying that the DAP secretary-general had been performing his duties well.
The problem is not with Loke.
The problem is with all the politicians who promises and then failed to deliver.
What Malaysians want are for all politicians to adopt and practice this - my word is my bond, I will always do what I say or promise and I am different from traditional politicians who make bogus promises to deceive their constituents just to get elected only to abandon them afterward.
Malaysians needs leaders with strong values and morals, sound intellectual capacity and sincerity of purpose to be elected into leadership positions.
Malaysians are tired of politicians who make many promises to gain votes.
Many of these promises were not kept, with actions contradicting their words.
Housing and Local Government Minister and DAP deputy chairman stated that he would be the first to resign if PM6 is fully released and walks free.
The Federal Territory (Kuala Lumpur) DAP treasurer reportedly called on all DAP cabinet members to quit the government if PM6 was released, labeling it an uncrossable red line.
It was politicians from DAP that make the promises, they create a rod for their own backs. They create a moral obligation to keep them.
It was a promise that they themselves have foolishly made.
If they make a promise that they shouldn’t have, they shouldn’t compound their error by keeping it.
They should be big enough to make a U-turn when they realise their mistake.
For example, if you promise to marry someone yet come to the view it would be a dreadful mistake, you are obliged to call off the wedding.
To go through with the wedding only because of an earlier promise would be foolish and unethical.
Unless there is a clear case of cynical political expediency, politicians should be praised, not monstered, for making a U-turn.
If they can’t even keep a promise made by them themselves, how do you expect the ordinary rakyat to trust that they will deliver on those promises they made to the ordinary rakyat?
Probably you should advise them and all other politicians to keep their trap shut and not simply shoot it off.
The ordinary rakyat remembers.
