“Some politicians believe the only way to remain powerful is to keep people afraid. They need an enemy to stay relevant. But Malaysia cannot move forward through the politics of fear,” said Hannah Yeoh, Federal Territories Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
The video's message championed unity in the #MalaysiaKita2026 spirit.
In a TikTok video, Hannah said: “We do not need to bring down another community to lift our own. We do not need to hit another religion to defend our faith. And we should never divide a country just to help one political party win.” The video was titled as “Kekal Harapan”,
A stable government is not a government without challenges. It is a government that has the courage to face problems, make decisions and keep working for the people.
“This is the choice before us. Politics that divides or leadership that unites. Fear or hope. Chaos or stability. Politics may win an election, but only unity can move a nation forward,” Hannah added.
She remarked, "When floods hit, they do not ask what religion the person helping them belongs to. Our problems do not choose us by race. Our solutions should not divide us by race either.”
Hannah explained: “Stability is not just about having enough numbers in parliament. Stability means businesses having the confidence to invest. It means workers having opportunities. It means families can plan for the future.”
She previously served as the Minister of Youth and Sports from 2022 to 2025 and earlier as the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, a role she held from mid-2018 to early 2020. At present, she is serving her second term as the Member of Parliament for P117 Segambut, a parliamentary constituency in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, which she first won in 2018 during the historic general election which saw the Pakatan Harapan coalition come to power.
Before that, Yeoh served as a two-term State Assemblyman for the N31 Subang Jaya constituency (2008 – 2018).
