Recently, in a statement, JPJ announced that Zetrix AI Bhd and My E.G. Sdn Bhd will have their services as collection agents for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) suspended from 5 Oct 2026.

In its statement, JPJ said the decision was made after taking into account compliance with the stipulated terms and conditions of the agreement, as well as the status of obligations yet to be fulfilled or settled by Zetrix AI Bhd and My E.G Sdn Bhd.

Following the suspension, all JPJ services previously offered through MYEG Group channels will also be suspended from 5 Oct 2026.

The suspension appears to be in response and a follow up to an article in The Straits Times Singapore on 1 Oct 2026 that reported that Zetrix AI failed to hand over money collected for the renewal of vehicle road tax, driving licences and traffic summonses from the very start of its three-year contract in May 2023.

The article reportedly state that Zetrix AI failed to handover money collected from the very start of its 3 years contract in May 2023.

The e-government service contract was from May 2023 to May 2026.

Based on the article, it appears that for the entire duration of the 3 years contract, JPJ did NOTHING to pursue the collection from Zetrix AI Bhd?

Not even a letter of demand?

It appears that the contract was extended upon its expiration in May 2026.

Otherwise, if it was not extended, why does JPJ announce the service as suspended effective 5 Oct 2026?

If it was not extended, the service would have ended automatically on 31 May 2026.

What are the terms of the extension?

How long is the period of the extension?

Another 3 years? Or just 1 year? Or on a month by month basis?

The public is asking why now i.e the suspension?

Why didn’t JPJ took action earlier?

Why did JPJ allowed the sums to remain uncollected?

Not for a few months but for the entire duration of the 3 years contract.

Yes, JPJ could argue that it is the onus and responsibility of Zetrix AI to remit the said sums to JPJ.

But shouldn’t JPJ be proactive and monitor the collections from Zetrix AI?

Sums due uncollected for the entire duration of the contract.

If this had happened in a private company or a company with public shareholders, the board of Directors and the CEO would have been terminated immediately.

But again, this is a government endeavour.

No collection or failure to collect dues to the government is not an offence punishable with termination.

The most the Chief Secretary to the Government will do is just reassigned or transfer the DG of JPJ to another agency or Ministry.

Life goes on.

The government will just write off the RM200 mil if Zetrix AI Bhd is to go under and does not have enough assets to pay off all its liability.
